admiralty law

This law is also known as maritime law. This law regularizes the maritime activities and nautical miles of the sea.  It has both the domestic law and private international law on different contracts of the private parties and ocean- going ships. We basically distinguishes this law with law of sea because it is totally about domestic law and private international law while, the law of sea is a totally public international law.

Admiralty law is one of the domestic or state laws and it is not necessary that all the states must have it. USA has added this law into their States law. This law provides with the maintenance, personal injuries to passengers, liens, salvage and piracy etc. In Pakistan, this law is named as shipping act which is organized by the Merchant shipping act 2001. Canada has also expanded the jurisdiction on maritime law which has overridden the previous provincial laws.
